Imec is the world-leading research and innovation hub in nanoelectronics and digital technologies. Imec brings together almost 3500 researchers specializing in multiple domains creating innovations in fields such as healthcare, smart cities, mobility, and energy. Imec headquarter is in Leuven, Belgium, but its R&D groups and offices can be found in the Netherlands, Taiwan, USA, China, India, and Japan. In Leuven, imec plays a key role in the business cluster Leuven Mindgate.
Imec will lead a study of the accuracy of frailty detection based on data from wrist-worn accelerometers, comparing the reliability of wrist-worn vs. waist worn devices. They will apply machine learning and classification algorithms to analyze the data in terms of physical activity, gait, and ADL recognition/classification.
Imec will also co-coordinate multicenter pilot study, lead by MADoPA, to validate the LOLA app in fall detection and fall risk assessment in the elderly population.
